Tree planting with Laragh Glendalough Tidy Towns

The Wicklow Gap junction at Glendalough got a makeover on Saturday 30th March!

We've been working with Tidy Town groups all spring to plant native trees and hedgerows. Our last planting was yesterday in partnership with Laragh and Glendalough Tidy Towns.

With support from the NPWS rangers, we planted 50 of our best trees in protected mesh cages on the land cleared as part of widening the junction a few years back. We planted mostly rowan, with some hawthorn, hazel and birch mixed in, that will hopefully give this area a lift and help wildlife in years to come.

Be sure to stop and have a look if you're heading to Glendalough or up into the mountains this summer and see how they're doing!
