ReWild Wicklow on RTÉ Prime Time

Prime Time on RTÉ One had a feature on the new National Biodiversity Action Plan on Thursday 25th January and our chairperson Danny was invited to take part.

Danny took the opportunity to show them some of the issues on the ground in our Wicklow Mountains National Park. Including whole valleys of clearfell right up against park boundaries, planted on peat and within what are supposed to be Special Protection Areas for birds on the edge of extinction.

We welcome the first mention of actually expanding our National Parks, which members of our group have long campaigned for, but there's a lot of stuff missing from the plan. Including continued replanting on peatland, and most deadlines are set as 2030! We're in a crisis, we need action now, not 6 years down the road.

You can watch the feature back on the RTÉ Player for the next 30 days here
