Pond digging at Wild Acres Nature Reserve
The weather never dampens the spirits of our volunteers as proven by 28 enthusiastic workers who visited Wild Acres Nature Reserve on Saturday.
The main job of the day was digging wildlife pond no 31 by spade. And it became quickly apparent why the ponds on this reserve are so popular, with no less than 7 frogs passing by for a look.
Our volunteers also helped clear vegetation around hundreds of young, establishing native trees and cut gorse for use in a riverbank erosion mitigation project.
All before enjoying a well-earned hot cuppa and chat in the barn.
We have more volunteer days planned for the next three Saturdays in a row, as well as a couple Sundays. So come join the list here and get the invites to these inspiring, fun and educational days out in nature.
