Oak tree nursery at Wild Acres Nature Reserve

Yesterday 40 of our volunteers returned to our friends at Wild Acres Nature Reservce to help with a really special task.

They had collected 400 local acorns which germinated in their polytunnel and we helped clear some old raised beds outside to transplant them into. When these have grown in size they will be donated to our work with other sites and will help reforest Wicklow with native oak - thank you so much Gilly and Brian!

We also helped prepare their pollinator bed for spring and trampled back grass in their young native woodland. Its such a wonderful nature reserve they have established and it was full of life and colour yesterday.

We look forward to returning again later in the summer, if you want to join us for a day at that or any of our summer volunteering days - join the list at rewildwicklow.ie!
