First tree planting of season at Knockree

27 of our volunteers were delighted to get out for some winter sun and do our first tree planting of the season with our friends at An Oige Knockree Wildlife Conservation Group!

We were in the beautiful Glencree valley and were contributing to work planned for native habitat restoration in the land adjoining hostel. Our big team of volunteers planted an incredible 370 hawthorn, blackthorn, holly, hazel and guelder rose to restore an on old hedgerow which is a wildlife corridor across the site. We also spot-planted some alder in tree guards along the river.

We have so much more tree planting planned all winter all over Wicklow so join our mailing list on our website rewildwicklow.ie if you want to join the team at the next one!
