28 timber dams built as part of peatland restoration

On Saturday 28th May,  25 of our volunteers returned to the Barnacullian Ridge in the mountains to help the NPWS with peatland restoration.

We spread heather brash, grass seed and lime, prepared the fences to be erected and built small timber dams along gullies - 28 in total!

This is a trial that hopes to restore vegetation to an area that has been degraded since the 1970s and in so help store more carbon and improve biodiversity.
